What you need: Rubber gloves to avoid a messy situation (an old t-shirt and paper towels are also recommended for the same reason), a squirt bottle filled with water, alligator clips, rubber gloves (cute ones are always a plus),and #CHALKED

Step 1: Divide your hair into sections, based on the pieces you wish to color. When ready, start with a 1″ section and spray with water. If you have blonde hair you may be able to leave out the water step, but it is necessary if you have dark hair. Using water helps the pigment stick better, making it brighter and making it last longer.

Step 2: Twist the section of hair and rub the chalk against your damp lock of hair until the color adheres fully.

Step 3: Let hair dry completely. When dried, run a flat iron over your hair to make the color stick even more.

Tips: If you plan to sleep with your newly chalked hair, wear a beanie or bandana, or else you make wake up with a rainbow colored pillow. Yet, if you do get chalk on your bed sheets, it should wash out just fine. The chalk will rinse out when you wash your hair, but it can be very drying, so be sure to condition well!
